"Tony Hancock was the comedian's comedian. When we were writing Hancock's Half Hour he told us; 'You're the writers, you write, I'm the comedian, I'll comede.' And boy, could he comede’’
-Galton & Simpson
The Tony Hancock Appreciation Society
Stone me, it's the lad himself!
Housing the world's largest collection of audio and visual material concerning Tony, the society is dedicated to finding, preserving, and promoting his works.
Members can enjoy Society Events, a quarterly magazine (and digital-only supplemental), and access to the Society’s archive. We've worked hard with companies like BBC Audio and the BFI to ensure his work lives on its best quality possible.

For any aspiring documentary makers out there, the Tony Hancock Appreciation Society would make an ambitious project. The merger between THAS and the Tony Hancock Society before the turn of the millennium set us on the course we find ourselves on today.
Since then, the society has been steadily growing all over the globe. But not in a pandemic-y way. We've members from Aberdare to Australia, off to Alaska, and back to Aberdeenshire. We've even got members in non-A places too.
In recent years, Kevin McNally has guested for thousands of fans on our Podcast (Very Nearly an Armful), Diane Morgan has joined us for our annual dinner, Tim & Martin co-authored with Lucy Hancock the hefty book Tony Hancock: Inside His Life in Words and Pictures, and the Society has worked closely with BBC Audio on a number of CD and download releases.
With many more events planned and with the Society’s continuing association with the Riverside Studios (where the original Hancock’s Hald Hour episodes were made, there's never been a better time to be a Hancock fan. And there's never been (in our opinion) a better bunch of chaps and chapettes to enjoy his work with!
